Marathon training - WEEK 9

17.04 - 23.04     planned 51 km - done 51.4km

Got off on the wrong day for the starting run due to a busy schedule but that doesnt really matter as i just pushed all units a day behind. It was a pretty significant week too: i did my longest run so far, D got the job as teamlead and i was refused the SQ trainer position. There was family drama and Kar-Freitag with fish. But in the end i reached the subscribed mileage even if the 2 shorter runs were not exactly as the plan suggested.

17 SUN Pause / Alternativ training
Pause
18 MON langer Lauf Dist: 32 km in 5:34 min/km
Pause
19 TUE Pause / Alternativ
32 km in 2:47 at a constant 11.6 km/h speed. Up to about 27k it was quite fine but afterwards a real suffer.  Most of all my belly made it hard, it cramped from the exercise real bad, similarly to period cramps. I almost collapsed when i tried to get off the mill afterwards. The marathon feels like ages away, in terms of me being able to do it... if 32 is so damn hard how should i go another 10?
20 WED training leichter Lauf Dist: 6.4 km in 5:34 min/km
Pause
21 THU Pause / Alternativ training
7.4 km in 37:30. A nice casual late evening round around Chrlice. Very pleasant. Did some belly- and side exercises afterwards.
22 FRI Tempo-läufe Dist: 12.8 km, inkl. Aufwärmen; 4 x 1600 m in 7:04 min mit 800 m Trabpause; Auslaufen
Pause
23 SAT Pause / Alternativ training
12km in 1:02h. A nice extended round around Turany-Popelova at 22pm. After 4 earlies i was quite tired so i guess i wouldnt have gone if it wasnt saturday and i could have pushed it onto the next day. Casual tempo, very pleasant weather, it turned out to be a joy in the end :) Obviously i couldnt do the intervals but i will next week. Did the core exercises afterwards.

Marathon training - WEEK 8

 10.4 - 16.4   planned 48 km, done 49,3 km

A good week in general, just had to work lots and had to seize every opportunity for a run. But i guess i made it even if i needed the last extra run to catch up on the mileage.
The 22 on monday felt really really easy, and as pissed as i was with my PRG result i wasnt going for a revenge, it just turned out to be a relatively fast training run and so at 12 k i thought i might try to make sth out of it. But even then i didnt push it until the 16th km. So i can safely say that 1:43:30 is slower than what i could if i really tried hard. After the Marathon training is over i will give it a shot to make a PB on 21.

10 SUN Pause / Alternativ training
Pause
11 MON langer Lauf Dist: 25.6 km in 5:37 min/km
22 km in 1:50. On the treadmill, intervals (5x 3 min at 14.5) between 5 and 10km, then std 11,6-8 km/h. 16-21km racepace. Halfmarathon time 1:43:30 and I didnt even try hard. Would have done more but lacked time but i give it green because of the intervals. Worked out 15 min on my upper body then.
12 TUE Pause / Alternativ training
Pause
13 WED leichter Lauf Dist: 11.2 km in 5:37 min/km
9 km in 46 min. Home from work with a small walking patch (had to write an urgent sms). Very hot and sunny.
14 THU Pause /Alternativ training
Pause
15 FRI Tempo- dauerlauf Dist: 11.2 km, inkl.Aufwärmen; 8 km in 4:47 min/km; Auslaufen
7 km in 33:50. To work on the track of the 63, boarded at Makro and got off at Lidl, went on to the bikeroad and did some workout (belly and side) on the lake upon arrival. Good speed too. WOuld have done more if i hadnt left late :(
16 SAT Pause /Alternativ training
11.3km in 58 min. As little by little i lost 10 kms during the week and i didnt want to finish this week in deficit again i just added this run to save it. Went a nice round around Turany with lots of deroutes. I did it in the evening and smooth warmish weather, very pleasant!

Hervis Prague Halfmarathon 02-04-2011

Ok, so this was a complete disaster... Already the fact that i went there on a family saturday created some tension, cost a fair bit of money too we didnt really have, but since i was signed up (for 55 EUR no less!)i did go. It started with the fact that the tshirts ran out and they only had one size left which seemed large at first but fits pretty ok after all. I picked up my starter package and then had to piss a few hours away but there was nothing to do really. Most of it i spent walking the old town then on the mobile toilets (raceday-nervousness;)) and in the dressing tent contemplating what to wear... Wow that was a boring morning (tho pretty i must say).
But then the race... the start already sucked as i didnt get to my pacer group, had to start a lot behind as the crowd was really unpenetrable. But that was all nothing to me, i said to myself the run was all that mattered. But whoever said that this was a flat, fast track was a pathetic liar and if i ever meet them i'll have a thing or two to say. It NEVER was flat, granted there were no tall hills but it really kept going up and down, slightly but ever so. I found and lost my racepace again 4 fucking times, and at one point around 17 km i got so fucking pissed i considered simply dropping out and heading home.

I have never in my life been to a shittier race!!!

The organizers did a nice job, the conditions were top (plenty of toilets, dressing space, mobile showers, free isodrinks before the race and some stuff afterwards, Adidas tech shirt, medal, backpack, etc) but the field is a piece of SHIT with the bloody 9 bridges (up and down), fucking cobblestones and goddamned smog with heavy traffic all the way. I promise i will never run prague again. It made me so desperate with anger i almost broke down crying midway.

Anyway, the end of the story: from around 17 k on i gave up on all time expectations and just played for survival. It was very humiliating and it pissed the shit out of me. I have been training harder and longer distances this winter and spring than ever before and this wasnt what i deserved.  I reached dead exhausted and almost sick in 1:50 and headed home immediately and since my connex was extreme tight i didnt even manage to pick sth up but that turned out to be ok as i slept on the train anyway.

Marathon training - WEEK 7

3.4 - 9.4     planned 47 km done 24.5 km...

I spent this week at home in Hungary and i planned so many things and meetings its a miracle i got to do some running at all. I really really wanted to do a long run but there was just no damn time! I kept telling myself i would do it the next day but once when i even would have had a bit of time in the evening i was so tired i just couldnt bring myself to: my legs were pulsating from just walking the whole day. Funny thing. But at least the runs i did were all on the hill and as i knew i needed some hill training i used the settings to exercise that. So its a big underachievement km wise but at least was not useless. If there is anything Prague tought me is that i need to run on hilly surfaces time to time.

03 SUN  Pause / Alternativ training
5.4 km in 30 min. I only ran because i didnt want the muscle fever to get me down after the Prague half. I convinced B who was anyway on a strict diet to join me and we just did a very casual round and a half up on Garancs plus of course the way up and down. Did good too.
04 MON  langer Lauf Dist: 32 km in 5:37 min/km
Pause
05 TUE Pause / Alternativ training
Pause
06 WED leichter Lauf Dist: 4.8 km in 5:37 min/km
8.6 km in 50 min. Hilly run at Oreghegy with Tufi. Up the "cruel incline" and then a couple km straight than back down. Little cramps in my lower leg, nothing as bad as last time! FUN run with all capitals :)
07 THU Pause / Alternativ training
Pause
08 FRI Tempo- dauerlauf Dist: 9.6 km, inkl. Aufwärmen; 6.4 km in 4:45 min/km; Auslaufen
Pause.
09 SAT Pause / Alternativ training
10.3 km in 57 min. Me alone at 23pm, up the Garancs in desperation and 4.5 rounds up there, than down just because i promised D to be back in 45 min otherwise i would have felt like doing some more. It could have been a 20 easily... grr.

28 MON leichter Lauf Dist: 12.8 km in 5:37 min/km
12.8km in 1:04. But not leasurely, since i havent run tempo in a while i decided to push it at 12.6 and found it went easy. Worked out 30 min then.
29 TUE Pause /Alternativ training
5.4km in 26 min. I knew it was supposed to be a day-off, this was just a convenience run to IKEA, pushed it a little tho if i already ran. But nothing serious.
30 WED leichter Lauf Dist: 11.2 km in 5:37 min/km
6.5 in 31 min. I realized last saturday how even little elations give me a hard  time now so i purposefully did this run up the hill to Turany and than back. I wanted to rest for the weekend but i really just felt like a run.
31 THU Pause / Alternativ training
Pause
01 FRI leichter Lauf Dist: 11.2 km in 5:37 min/km

Beh Luzankami 26 03 2011

L's first race EVER!! :) A 200 m run for children born in 2002 or later. So she was still a little small to actually win it but she did awsome, brave and cool and she didn't fall or stumble. Neither did she get bothered by some bigger kids pushing her back so they could take her place in the second row where i originally planted her. Cheerful and cool in spring-ish temperatures she ran it and got a certificate and i prepared the medal so she knows there is a reward for a good performance :) She was very proud.

K, her boyfriend S and I ran a 3.2km race too somewhat later while D only came to watch L and then went away with her leaving me alone which was ok. What wasn't so ok was my time, 15:04 at 3.2? Sucks!! It was a bit like a cross treck tho and somewhat hilly but no excuse will justify such a low performance. But we had fun and took part in such a traditional run (thats been around every year since 1946.
