So as decided, i did try running and it was just fine! Alright, it was a little strange at first and a bit painful but i got over it and then enjoyed it big time :) God i missed running. I did 6.2 km, i thought that would be alright for the first time. I timed 5.6 which is the distance of the JPCC and got 27:30. I did take it quite easy so i know i can do a lot better than this when i try. So i did 30 min on the treadmill, than 12 on the steps and 8 spinning. That is 50 min of cardio. Followed by 30 mins weights, did all my usual exercises but benchlifting, nothing hurt really.

7.3 km on the treadmill, 5.6 at 27:10 - again, i didnt push myself to the limit. Ttl of 37 min incl warmup and cooldown. 10 min on the steps and 9 spinning. 51 min cardio ttl. 35 min on the weights, all the usual exercises incl benchlifting. I do the twister stomach exercise with 20 kg now and only 3 sets on each side. Likewise i raised the weight for the leg press, i do the first 5 series with 40/45 kg and put 60 for the last set of ten.
I have the feeling that 3 weeks of rest is something you should do time to time, like every half year... it has done me good, and my shape doesnt seem to have deterioriated, judging from the ease i run with. I think i will be able to get my speed up again until the 7th of may.

big news!
Im in the ASCA Cross Auswahlmannschaft!! R invited me, and P was also happy to have me join the team. Going to Dublin on the 15th of may - my first country cross, i am very excited! The team consists of really fast people. The great thing about it is, D comes too because we incorporated a Dublin weekend in our annual spring trip (this time Sarajevo - Dubrovnik - Dublin) and he even likes the idea :) So its gonna be lovely. I ought to start training tho, because i only have about a month to get back in shape...

Did 25 on thee steps again and 10 spinning (exhausting!!). Tried to stand on the bike but had to sit back often. I did my belly and leg exercises this time, no problems at all. I even did the benchlifting, tho that was a bit premature i think. But anyway, im fine and i will try jogging this tuesday :)

back on track
Ok, so i have more or less recovered and decided i would start training, if lightly first but never the less. I dont see a reason why i shouldnt when im really fine. This little rest didnt do me bad, tho, i lost 2 more kg-s and mostly fat! And the whole deal was a 100 times worth it, i had no idea such miracles were doable. I feel reborn, like a completely new person! But now back to work before i get lazy again. The MUC AirportLauf and the Bocholt Citylauf are drawing near and i dont want to disappoint (myself). Ah, übrigens - i made the Lufthanseat article, tho barely: neither my time nor my position is mentioned (but my name and location).

AS i cant run yet but still wanted to do cardio, i went 25 min on the stepper, bloody difficult!! Wa sweating like a pig. 15 min on the bike, much the same. Then i just did my leg exercises and went out after 50 min of workout ttl (had to rush to job). But i must face the fact that i got out of shape, its been 18 days without any kind of sports after all. So 50 is alright.

Last chance to run for a while! Asked T if she wasnt up for a run and of course she was :) No surprises there. So we went for her "short round", appr. 35 min up and down the hill, ver tiring for the arse (but you should see hers and you would know its worth it!). Now tho byebye running for appr. 4 weeks. Will of course train neverthless but only some certain types of workout are allowed.

Decided i wasnt to use the half marathon as an excuse for a long rest so went to the gym. I decided on a more muscle less cardo type of workout and altho i was quite tired i kept to it. Did a sprinty 4 km on the treadmill, warmup and cooldown in addition - ttl time 22 min. Then i did 13 min on the steps, very tiring indeed and then biked 10 min but didnt manage to push myself above 26-27km/h average.
I did the usual weights, 2 for each bodypart (except for the lifting which was permanently taken). Appr 35 min ttl.

Very unhappy with the time but it still brought me on position 3 (edit: later turned out it was pos5 after all) among LH staff :) Photos soon to follow:)
Got into FRA early evening and found the hotel easily. Had to buy a new sportsbra cause i forgot mine home :( I even ate a salad because i was afraid i wouldnt have the strength the next day.
Watched an episode of the Good Wife before falling asleep.
Watched an episode of the Good Wife before falling asleep.
Woke up early the next morning, wonderful light breakfast in the Hotel Europa, then off to meet V at the Stadion. Met S and other Collegues at the LH stand soon after arriving, picked up my funktionsshirt and went off to warm up. Everything went smooth (this is Germany after all!), and the start was very well organized with the elite-lauf and the different pace-makers starting with time-gaps between for convenience. I was in the second pacemaker group, aiming at 1:40-1:50.
The strecke was quite nice, mostly flat, and covered different parts of the city. My favourite part was the 6km straight on the shore of the Main with a great view on Frankfurt. I made the first 10km in 48 min but slowed down on the second half somewhat, it was especially difficult to keep my speed up between 17 and 19km... By then my lower legs got really sore and i started to feel i would be loosing toenails again and people kept overtaking me which can be discouraging too. Very few women tho, maybe 2, and they all looked quite fit.
V took some photos and helped me with everything i needed, i even took his watch. A promise: by next time ill have a sportswatch:) Its the most useful thing.
There were refreshments at 10 and 15 or so, and i might have made a mistake by drinking too much schorle. But i was dying with thirst! I did not eat tho until after the finish when i had a banana (or 2?)
I was decided to make a sprint on the last 60m as we turned into the stadium and so i did, even tho i was almost dead. At the Finish S and JA greeted me and JM took some finisher-photos as well as some with S. JA told me i was the 3rd among our ladies! He asked me some questions which he'll hopeflly use in either Lufthanseat or the intranet (or both) and then i went to stretch.
Then i took V and got us some coffee and cake, after all what better excuse does one need for eating 2(!) cakes than that it isnt only delicious but its price is donated to charity?! Shortly after 1pm we all gathered at the LH stand and had a cheerful team-photo done, and then J asked the first 3 ladies to pose for a few photos together :) Then, a personal delight, the 3 of us were shot a few more pics with DK, last years fastest Lufthanseat, unfortunately flying for 4U this year and hence not any more strengthening our team but there neverthless :)
What kind, friendly people, really about everyone at LH! I felt so welcome and so well among them, i wished i could stay forever but instead off we had to go if we wanted to get our connection. So farewells were said and V and I went back to town, picked up my bags (V, the gentleman carried the heavy one all the way home!) and went to take a few photos of the skycrapers and then we got a currywurst for the sake of having a taste of Germany :)
Tho unhappy with my time, i still have a difficulty believing i not only managed to run my first evern 21km, i scored the bronze among Lufthanseatinnen! I think i will remember this day for a long while with a feeling of contentment, pride and a little boasting :)
