Went to the gym with big determination but all 4 treadmills were "nefunguje" as the czech say. I suspect sth with the electricity was cut because of the construction work.
So i had to make do with the cardio machines in the ladies section.
steps, 20 min, 1130 steps (x 2 for every step).
bicycle 15 min, 6500m
ellyptic trainer 15 min, i cant seem to recall the distance.
The steps were the real deal, they made me sweat much more than jogging.
Then i worked on my legs, stomach and sides another 30 min and when i walked out of the gym i wasnt very sure on my legs :) Well done me i would say.

Lady Fitness Budapest
Being home for a few days, i had limited choices on where to workout. I decided on this old crappy gym for the sake of convenience and i didnt have to regret it! Tho only one treadmill and a crappy one at that, it was available right away and due to very little heating in the room the temperature was ideal for running. Much better than in my gym. I only realized this tho around 5 km where i was still zero sweaty and felt like i just did my first km (practically like i didnt run any).
I could only do 9.2 km tho because i had a very tight schedule and since the treadmill broke down twice i cant tell the exact time, appr. 45-50 min.
21.12. 19:00
Back in Union Brno
My gym finally got new treadmills! They expand the area too and its already loads nicer. Being done with present shopping and the likes, i took time for a real workout. 1:20 on the treadmill, covering 14 km total. 5000m @ 26:58, 10000m @ 56:00.
Then :40m workout, mostly belly and legs. I even showered with cold afterwards since there was no warm water any more :) A taugh one altogether, resulting in a bit of leg-soreness the following days.
Then the 22nd i went off to Bocholt so no workout until today.

catch-up
3/12, noon
45 minutes on the treadmill (8.4km) with tempo changes. lots of workout (chiefly stomach and legs) and steps to balance.
The following days were a big chaos because of the traveling i was going to do and work so i didnt make it to the gym at all. Its always very frustrating when i have to miss out on numerous days in a row cause my body cries for the exercise but well.
9/12, 6:00AM
50 min around the town Bocholt, very cold. Also taugh to wake up but it was worth it :) Unfortunately i can only guess the distance, appr. 8.5-9 km.
3 days in New York and 1 spent traveling, again no exercise. I meant to go out to Central Park (would have been THE place to jog) but it was insanely cold and i couldnt work up the courage because i was pretty jetlagged too. I got home and started with nightshifts at work so i had to skip one more day.
13/12 7:00PM
(1 karnitin shot before training - this is an experiment at fatburning)
60 min on the treadmill:
200m warmup at 10km/h
starting at 200m with 10.6 and raising the speed with one tenth a km/h every 300m, to 3200 (11.5km/h)
from 3200 to 5000 by the hundreds: 14-10-12-10 blocks.
5000m in 27:10.
Starting at 11.5km/h, down to 10.6 by the 300-s (same as up). Then 2X 800 at 11 or so, with 200m walks after each. Some more jogging round 10km/h to cool down with and reach the hour limit. Ttl 10300m. Unfortunately no time left for workout.
14/12 7:00PM
(again a karnitin shot straight before)
52 min on the treadmill
200m warmup at 10km/h
starting at 200m with 10.7km/h and raising the speed with 0.2 km/h every 600m, up to 3200m (11.5km/h)
same blocks of 100m-s at 14-10-12-10 up to 5000m: 26.67.
Backwards from 11.5 by the 300-s, slowing 0.1km/h by each.
8100m in about 45m, then 200m walk and 700 sprint at 12km/h up to 9000m, some more jogging and walking to cool down. TTL 9200m. Basic belly workout.

Intro
So,
a bit about me. I am a former basketball player and thriathlete, but i stopped practicing sports professionally at 17 as i needed time for my studies (or so i reasoned to myself - truth is, i kinda burnt out). I spent the next 7 years with various destructive activities such as college life or nonstop shiftwork, with only occasional flare-ups in the gym, resulting in an overall rather crappy physical condition. This spring i decided it was time to get back on track as i missed my sports terribly. I started jogging around the block, then moved to the gym when i thought i could show myself in workout clothing among people :) Ive trained through the summer and september found me doing 10-15 km twice-4 times a week on the treadmill. I was in a comparable condition last time in 2004.
I decided i would start attending events just for fun and see if i still like that. For a warmup i did the K&H Nightrun in Budapest in October, 6.5 km in 33:35 which i considered a success. I then meant to participate in the Hamburg Airportlauf but it sold out before i could have registered. So i decided to aim at my first half-marathon and picked the Balaton Maraton in Siófok, HU which had different challenges. Considering that i never ran more than 17 km without stopping (i did that on the treadmill in november to see) i opted for the safe way and registered for the "half marathon in 2 parts: 14 + 7km. I broke a personal record once more by sticking on a guy a category faster than i normally would have been :) My times were 34:42 and 34:43 on the first two 7km rounds which put me on the 4th position among the women. A few hours later i got my will together once again and made the 7km in 33:32 and finished at the 3rd place. Seeing how this was an amateur challenge i didnt get any recognition but i dont think ive felt such happyness over any achievment in a long time.
Still, i cant claim to have run an actual half marathon in one which is something i intend to help as soon as i find a suitable race :)
My plan is to keep training twice, 3 times a week during the winter and intensify it a little in february so as to be in top shape for the Lufthansa Halbmaraton on the 14th of March 2010. I will then do the Munchen and Hamburg Airport Races, the JP corporate run in LH colours, the Seeheim Training Centre Run and anything else LH and or aviation related. Im also considering the Vienna and Prague halfmarathons as they are quite close to me and would provide excellent additions to my 2010 calendar :)
I intend to post a small blog about all my trainings and of course events, mainly for myself to be able to monitor any improvement or setback. However i would be very happy to meet some fellow runners and perhaps if im lucky fellow lufthanseat-s too and discuss or exchange tips. So please feel free to leave a comment if you feel like :)
